One little letter makes all the difference....

Every Summer our church has a "Summer Beach Bash"

Its tons of fun. Music, food, games, and then the highlight was dozens of people getting baptized in the lake.

It's the highlight of our summer.

Court has a picture in his office of him baptizing someone last year and this has Gibson very curious..

I tried to explain to Gibson what baptism was..

And for the entire summer He was excited to go to the "baptize"

We would say "This weekend we are going to the beach"

To which he would reply

"To baptize?"

His excitement was very adorable...

But somewhere between the beginning of summer and the end of summer..

He changed his terminology....

He began to call "baptizing" "diving"....

And then for reasons I do not quite understand..

He began to use the word "dying" and "diving" interchangable....

And since I am not quite ready to tackle the definition of dying I let it slide...

Until....

Fast forward to the Summer Beach Bash..

Where 77 people from 3 churches were to be baptized..

where 100's more were waiting on the beach to watch..

And my darling son yells out...
With clarity and authority..

"Don't go in the water you're going to DIE!!!!!!!"

"Dive he means DIVE!!!!"

I yell, ok meekly mumble, trying not to call anymore attention to the situation....

You would think that this would cause me to correct my son gently..

"It's dive sweetie... DIVE.."

But no.. again I let it slide...

Until...

Gibson and I are having a discussion in Target...

We somehow get on to the topic of what he wants to be when he grows up...

Which lately has been an ocotopus..

When he said something that completely warmed my heart..

"I want to be a Pastor like Daddy..."

Awe Gibson...

I smile hoping the woman next to us hears....

Maybe this would give me a way to invite her to church....

Until...

"So I can die people."

Happy feeling gone...

"He means dive...."

I mumble...

One day I will correct him..

Really I will..
