Two years ago the little Boy that my brother and sister in law
waited for..
prayed for..
prepared for..
Two years ago that little Boy known as Baby Dynamite died before he had a chance to met his wonderful parents.
There was mourning..
We mourned for the little boy we would never met on earth..
But really we mourned for his mommy and daddy.
We mourned for the moments they would miss.
The "firsts" they would never see.
The laughs they would never hear.
The tears they would never wipe away.
The boo boos they would never kiss better.
We cried heavy tears.
The kind you feel in your chest.
The kind that choke you.
The kind where you plead with God why..
And then the hardest crying would come whe we thought about this:
No matter how deeply we felt the lost,
we could never understand even a fraction of the pain they felt.
Yet through all their pain their strength was astounding.
Their hearts where broken but their spirits were not.
They mourned.. but in that mourning there was such a peace.
Such a peace.
At Baby Dynamite's funeral my brother spoke.
He said many wonderful and powerful things but the sweetest moment..
The most precious moment...
Was when he started singing.
Quiet at first, but slowly getting louder as the crowd joined in..
He, the man who just lost his son.
The man whose little boy laid in a coffin behind him..
That man who had every right to be bitter and angry..
He started singing this:
How Great is our God
Sing with me
How Great is our God
All will sing
How Great, How Great
Is our God.
In the moment of the worst pain of their lives my brother and sister in law understood this.
God is still good.
That doesn't depend on our circumstance or how we feel.
That fact will never change.
That is why they could have hope.
That is why they could have peace.
That is why they could worship.
Because our God's goodness and power isn't fickled.
It doesn't depend on our understanding.
He is good.
Baby Dynamite was named Nathaniel (which means "Gift from God") Jensen ("God is Gracious".)
