Greater than all our sin..

There are many posts right now about a certain case..
This post is not about that..
It's not about my feelings on justice..
Or my opinions on the verdict.
They probably are the same as yours..
They probably are the same as rest of America's..
But that is not what this is about..

It is about the thought..
the realization...
that drove me to my knees..
That confronted me like a wave..
knocking me over..
leaving me gasping for air..
astonished..
amazed..
in awe..
humbled...

This is about Grace.

Not the grace that we usually think of..
Tied up in bows and lace..
Gentle..
Inviting..
Non-intrusive..

No
Real Grace..
Messy..
Raw...
Offered to everyone..
Even those we would want to condemn..

Grace draws us to our knees...
It confounds us..
Humbles us..
Because it exposes all the messiness of our own hearts..
And the ugliness..
The things we try to hide..
Because when you are confronted with Grace..
You are confronted with all your junk..
You are confronted with your need for grace..
Your need for forgiveness..
Your need for HIM..

And then slowly...
It becomes clear..
That the grace you receive..
You are utterly undeserving for..
and as much as you would like to categorize sin in different degrees..
As much as you would like to think..
The things in your heart aren't that bad..
It hits you..

You are just as undeserving of grace..

Just as undeserving as Grace..
as those you would like to condemn..

You are just as undeserving of Grace
as those others want to condemn..

We are all undeserving of Grace..
And that is what makes it so amazing...
