First it was the toenails..
Then I was able to put her hair in braids for the first time..
Just like a big girl..
She complained that it hurt..
Which was the wrong thing to do..
I was being very, very gentle..
I explained to her that my Dad,
her Pops..
Use to braid my sister and my hair so tight..
We couldn't shut our eyes..
We had a permanent surprised look on our faces..
So really she had nothing to complain about..
(I almost went on to tell her about having to walk up a hill both ways, in snow, barefoot, to get to school, but decided we still have many years left of this parenting thing and I don't want to use up all my good ammo too soon)
